LEXIE MUTCH
A self-taught watercolorist, Lexie Mutch began painting as an outflow of spiritual renewal. She can often be found tucked away beside a creek with her palette, painting by only the sun’s glimmer peeking through shadows of tree branches.
Lexie sources imagery directly from her local environment and is intentional in creating a process that honors her ever-growing reverence for nature. Her watercolor work of creek and river scenes highlight the natural fluidity of the medium. Lexie’s more recent work on recycled wood is imbued with her passion for conservation and the beauty, warmth, and regenerative life of America’s woodlands seen through visible woodgrain. Her wood panel pieces are UV sealed and displayed without the need to be behind glass, itself a nod to the accessibility of our surroundings.
Lexie’s work highlights scenes that are typically underappreciated and missed in the blur of our hurried culture. Her hope is that art might encourage people to recognize the peace and joy found in the present moment.

Artist’s Statement
Art-making has brought me out of darkness many times anew. Working predominantly outdoors asking myself, “Where is light?” my critical, incessant mind quiets and Nature fills that space. I create to cultivate positive focus, seeking peace available in the present moment. My hope is that my work may have a similar effect for others.
